Jason Holt, current Mound City Council member, and Planning Commissioner Liaison, has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Mound. Jason has lived in Mound since 2016. He and his wife Katie have been married for 17 years and have two children currently attending Westonka Public Schools. In his free time, Jason enjoys playing in a men’s basketball group that he organizes, ushering at his church (River Valley Church), running and biking. Jason is a family man that enjoys spending time with his wife and children outdoors, enjoying all the seasonal activities Mound has to offer. He also enjoys spending time with and gathering insights from local business owners and Mound residents. He truly is an advocate for the betterment of our community and city.
Since being elected in 2020 to the Mound City Council, Jason has spent a lot of time learning about the inner workings of the city, the budget, the outlook for Mound, and listening to the concerns from citizens and business owners alike before making decisions. He tries to look at all sides of an issue before making a vote that he believes will serve the residents of Mound the best. Jason is a Financial Advisor and understands that the city like our own family must be on a budget as well as plan for the future. Some of the many successes since Jason has been on City Council have been, plowing Dakota Trail in the winter, new city website, new newsletter (coming), new Harbor Park adoption plan, keeping 4 Precinct’s for voting, crosswalk over shoreline (coming), Water treatment plan and funding (working on), new businesses, water pipes and pump station replacements, and much more.
Jason and Katie have chosen Mound as the place they want to raise their family, and as Mayor, Jason plans to set Mound on a path towards success for our city and our residents. Jason will be a strong leader and advocate for our city, he will help improve communication with residents, he will promote growth in Mound and will be a “Common Sense Voice”.

I will fight for our city and our residents. Whether it is our Manganese issue, and trying to get funding for a water treatment plant or a resident that has an issue, I will stand up strong for our residents and our City of Mound.
I will help improve communications with residents
We need to do better communicating with our residents. I hear this all the time. We have a new city website, as well as a new newsletter coming, but this is not enough. We need a social media presence and need to get out information to our residents in a more effective way.
I will Promote Growth in Mound
Whether it is a new business, park or remodel. I want to promote growth in Mound. I want Mound to be a vibrant place that residents will want to support as well as people in our community.
I will be a "Common Sense Voice"
I will be a Common Sense voice. I look at all sides of an issue and make sure it makes sense. There are some difficult decisions that we have to make sometimes, as well as very easy ones. As Mayor I will be a "Common Sense Voice"
